KEINE ZUKUNFT OHNE ZUKUNFT

The interdisciplinary, cultural venue Zukunft am Ostkreuz (Future at Ostkreuz) in Berlin Friedrichshain, is threatened in it's existence by the ongoing process of gentrification in the city. Home to a bar, a cinema, a theatre, gallery, a brewery and three convert venues, run by a collective of enthusiats from different backgrounds, it has been shaping the area arround Ostkreuz for the last ten years. Since contracts are cancelled, a campaign for preserving Zukunft in its unique shape skyrocketed under the slogan "Keine Zukunft ohne Zukunft" (no future without future) and led to talks and negotiations between investors, politicians and the collective running the space. The outcome of these talks are yet to be revealed. In 2021, Zukunft assigned me to document the space and their collective for the campaign.
